i really love the way the music video portrays its message. it reminds me of how sometimes when people commit suicide their friends and family say they never saw it coming, and it just goes to show that you never know how people really are feeling deep down inside. the way hyorin portrays that sense of desolation even while trying to put on a happy face...even in the music video while she's acting happy there's a sense of hysteria in it, as if she's trying to convince herself to be happy.

Midoly B how do you interpret the song? I'd love to hear the message you think the song is sending to the listener.

I feel like those that don't understand the mv (bc she's happy) is because they are not like that. All my friends think of me as a very optimistic and happy person, but sometimes I just hide the sadness inside. It's just a characteristic that some people have :)

I don't know about other people but I actually like how she is not overpowering the song with her usually strong, powerful vocal. I think it's a good choice she uses a softer vocal which matches the title of the song "Lonely". The mv is also done in a good way. My interpretation of this mv is that she's trying to cover her sadness and loneliness by laughing and smiling but deep down inside she's feeling sad and lonely

Hyolyn is very unique! She is so beautiful, with a beautiful voice and personality. I absolutely adore her and she has always had my support from the beginning and I hope she continues to keep up her solos because she did very well for her first solo project and a lot people love it. The song has a very deep meaning (smiling even though she goes through tough times). I'm glad she showed the strong, proud woman that she is through this video. I always thought that idols weren't lonely because they had friends and were in relationships, but even i know that can get sometimes too. I love you Hyolyn and I will always continue to support you.

I can feel the loneliness, it had me close to tears, and the way everything was put together, she's smiling and playing through her loneliness but then they have the shots of her not smiling or laughing and just being there... I can relate to that. Hyorin, your voice was fantastic as usual... is this whole song sung in falsetto? Only Hyorin could do that!! Reason why she's my favorite!!! A lot of people have been misunderstanding how the MV doesn't match the song at all. Its true that she doesn't look lonely here, but thats the point of the MV.This MV just shows how her character is being happy all the time to hide the fact that she is very lonely. Just telling this to some people that doesn't know yet hehe. Don't mind me for those of you who understands! Anyways, let's always support her! :D

It has a nice 'morning coffee' vibe to it...the video is also well done, the shots capture Hyorin's beauty perfectly.... She really looks beautiful with her hair like this. Beautiful. Very well done :)

I've watched this mv many times, and I teared up everytime, that's exactly me. living alone, eating alone, studying alone, shopping alone, listening music alone, watching movie alone, having fun alone. I keep telling myself that I'm happy the way I am right now, that I enjoy being alone. I have to keep myself being busy so that I won't feel lonely.

this mv made me soo sad... Cuz i know feeling being happy only for showing. Always smile, laugh and act fun but deep inside it's dark. This MV is soo amazing and song is truly beauty. Amazing solo debut.

after 6yrs I'm back here again after listening to hyolyn sang it live 5days ago. this just brought me back to my emotional state where I get isolated by everyone around me and still hv to put on a mask to satisfy everyone I could. 6yrs ago I was a student, now I'm a working adult who still gets isolated by colleagues but not as harsh as my student life. I cried when she sang this song and my hands r shaking. shes my only reason i could hv stayed alive for these 6yrs becuz i believe i could meet her one day and i did :')

There are so many ways how we can understand the MV. For me, it's like she is sad, lonely, she just wants to cry, but for some reasons, she can't. Laughter, fun, everything is just a mask.

i don't why people think this mv doesn't make sense, this mv is totally clear to me. "i don't understand, isn't this to be a sad song? why is she running around town with sexy clothes and laughing?", it's not a sad song, this is a lonely song. you're not actually sad when you're lonely, you can still laugh, running around with sexy clothes, playing piano... but alone, empty, that's lonely. this mv pictured lonely. she's alone in the entire video but she's laughing, smiling, to no one. isn't that lonely? i think, they want to picture a girl who have a heartbreak and having a vacation to forget it but end up lonely? either way, i totally in love with this

SUCH a well-shot video. REALLY. It's the best I've ever come across in K-Pop.

Best vocalist in K-pop (imo)....I always wanted Hyo to train as a power ballad singer. This song is so beautiful and rich! It shows that Hyorin doesn't have to sing some upbeat dance track to showcase her vocal prowess.

I agree. Looking back on all the girl groups I have heard over the years her and Bom are the best vocalist in Kpop. I would love to even see them together at some point.

I swear Kpop has the worst fans. Why everytime someone releases a song, they get compared to every song in the world? It is a slow song. I am sure if you listen to every song, there is another song you can compare it too. Didn't think of one other song, I listen and I hear Hyorin's beautiful voice and that is all that matters. Either you like it or you don't. If you don't like it move along. The whole album is fantastic from start to finish. Hyorin is here to take over.

I came here after shinee Jonghyun suicide news broke out and this song represents the life of a depressed or mentally ill person.they smile but are broken up inside .always crying for help but no one seems to be listening I hope anyone who reads this pls treats those around you with love.help them with whatever they are struggling with you will be saving their life . In a nutshell, I didn't expect Hyorin's first solo single to be this mellow. It's beautiful though and I'm happy that she is experimenting with sounds that fans would not expect her to do. I look forward to the rest of the album.

The Directors was trying to show either two things. A) Her happy scenes are flashbacks to her relationship mixed with her current sadness or B) She is trying cover the sadness by smiling. I'm thinking it's more of mix but mainly "A" b/c she seems to be interacting with the camera as if it's a person. Just glad this video wasn't in a box.
